Samsung Ballie
After years of trade-show demos, Ballie is finally on sale: a rolling ball with a 1080p projector that follows you around, controls your SmartThings devices, patrols while you're out and projects your video or recipe onto the nearest wall.
It's the most practically useful robot in this category: a smart-home butler more than a pet. At $1,299, its rival isn't Loona but the smart speaker you already own — except this one moves.
The good
- Real utility: projector + home control
- On-device AI (privacy) and camera shutter
- Samsung ecosystem behind it
The bad
- Less pet-like charm than Loona or aibo
- Tied to the SmartThings ecosystem
- Needs clear floors to shine
